I love how Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas is one of the lightest and creamiest primers that I’ve ever tried. Like all Tatcha products, less is more. This primer is a multi-tasker in priming face, eyes, and lips. That is great when I don’t have a whole lot of time in the morning. It was a bit interesting that this primer comes in balm form opposed to the ones I have used which come as a liquid. When a friend gifted me with this primer, I was beyond floored with excitement. She know’s I love Tatcha’s skincare line!

The packaging is absolutely stunning. Sturdy case with the primer encased inside. It comes with a pretty metal scraper. Not sure where I would store the scraper unless I leave it inside with the product. The case is quite large, a bit bulky to carry around in my purse or for travel. Considering, I only need a little bit of product, I would not necessarily need this much product with me at all times. I would have to scoop some product into a small container or see if Tatcha will carry a mini size instead. It is lightly scented but very subtle.

The Silk Canvas is very easy to use. The scraper has a line indented on the backside. I simply glide the scraper across the top of balm till the product hits the line. This is ideally more than enough to prime my entire face. I start doting this on my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin and blend out with finger tips. I find using my fingers help warm the balm to spread easier.

The texture is a soft creamy balm that begins to melt away as I blend out. It goes on smoothly and very light weight. It does not feel dry or sticky, yet leaves behind a soft focused finished. This creates a nice barrier on my skin before I begin my makeup application. It really helps even out my skin tone and my foundation goes on smoothly. No creasing and makeup stays on all day. This primer moves with my skin while staying hydrated after a long day.

Tatcha products always make my skin glow and feel healthy. This primer contains Hadasei-3, a combination of Japanese superfoods, green tea, rice and algae that prevent aging and restore youthful radiance. These ingredients are common thru out Tatcha’s skincare line.

Overall, The Silk Canvas packaging is gorgeous and so is the primer product. It does wonders for blurring pores and tiny lines. A little goes a long way so this primer will last me for a really long time even with daily use. It does a good job in evening out my skin without the silicone feeling. This is a great quality product and I feel good that Tatcha uses clean ingredients in the formulation. Granted this product is a bit pricey, but If I ever ran out it would be worth every penny because of how much product is in this case. It’s currently out of stock on the Sephora site but available at Tatcha’s site.
