Tatcha The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment is a two in one makeup and skin treatment. I think of it as a tinted concealer + eye cream. You can wear it alone on skin or on top/or underneath your existing concealer. I do not wear concealer on the daily so using The Pearl is a good alternative for me. Just want to point out The Pearl is not a concealer and will appear differently on everyone’s skin tone.
This works as a tinted treatment to hydrate and reduce the look of dark circles + fine lines. Pearl extracts help to brighten and promote collagen production. Silk powder smooths imperfections while creating a smooth canvas. Tatcha’s special blend of hadasei-3 (superfoods + hyaluronic acid) nourishes and hydrates skin.
I personally do not have dark circles or hyperpigmentation under my eyes. I am not a fan of heavy makeup applied to my under eye area. It creates the illusion of caked on makeup and creasing of fine lines. The Pearl is the perfect product for providing just enough tinted coverage while making my eye area look youthful and radiant.
The only things I apply to my under eye area are: eye cream, the pearl, and foundation. I have found that if I do not do a good job of moisturizing my under eye area this product will not blend very well. Having the area moisturized creates enough slip for The Pearl to glide on. I use two tiny dots under each eye and gently tap the product in. Texture has a thick liquid feel to it but goes on light weight. I let it dry for a few minutes and go over the area with a little bit of foundation so everything blends together.
The warmth from my fingers help the product to melt into my skin making it easier to apply. Has a water cream based. I like how it keeps the area moisturized and the pearl reflecting pigments make my eyes look refreshed and awake. The shade range is rather limited, comes in three different shades (moonlight, softlight and candlelight), I am using softlight.
You only need a tiny amount of product, literally a rice grain size. These little jars are so appealing but does not make sense when you need to dip your fingers into this for something so tiny. I would have much preferred a squeeze tube with a pointed narrow opening if you are going to need a rice grain size. The Pearl is pricy, I’ve treated it as an investment considering I’ve had this jar for many months now and still haven’t gotten halfway thru this.
Tatcha The Pearl is available at Sephora and Tatcha.
