Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum is part of their Luminous skincare line which targets dryness, dullness, and anti-aging. It contains multiple antioxidant ingredients, vitamins, royal jelly, 24-carat gold, red algae, and hyaluronic acid. All to deeply hydrate, nourish, and firm skin.
This serum has a gel-like consistency than liquid that I’m used to when the word serum comes to mind. You do not need to use a whole lot product, just one pump. Spreads easily and feels a bit sticky. Give it a few minutes to dry down before applying anything else on top of this. The scent is pleasant and does not bother me.
In times where I have slacked on my skincare routine, this serum has really hydrated those stubborn dry flakey patches. It can be used during the day or at night moisturizer. During the day, I don’t use too many layers of moisturizers under my makeup. This serum provides just enough hydration and a good skin barrier under my makeup. This could act as a primer as well.
In the evening, after serum is applied I like to top it off with the dewy skin cream to lock in all the moisture as I sleep. Keeps my skin dry patch free and soft in the morning. This does a great job at hydration but I have yet to see firming effects from this. I haven’t really noticed any tightening. My main purpose for using this is to tackle my hydration issue.
This serum is formulated without: mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates. Has a stamp of Clean at Sephora. Note, alcohol is listed as (No. 5 ingredient) on the packaging. If you’ve been following my blog you know that I have mentioned that I have sensitive skin which reacts horribly to high contents of alcohol or alcohol denat products.
If you do not have sensitive skin you probably won’t notice anything. Honestly I haven’t had any bad reactions but it will make me think twice about repurchasing just coz I do not want my skin to become sensitized. Would love for Tatcha to consider reformulating this to be alcohol-free.
The price point is a bit steep, there are comparable products on the market for less. This is definitely a splurge serum that is effective in hydrating.
