PYUNKANG YUL – KOREAN SKINCARE

Pyunkang Yul was developed by the Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic, an institution well-known for treating skin disorders. The clinic uses traditional Chinese medicine herbs, a holistic approach to healthy skin by maintaining the oil and moisture balance levels. I especially like the removal of all unnecessary chemicals and fragrances which can trigger irritated skin. Plus, having a minimal list of ingredients can ensure these are the safest and most gentle for my skin. Pyunkang Yul is a cruelty-free brand.

What is it
Essence Toner – A hydrating toner formulated with hydroxyethyl cellulose, arginine and astragalus root extract to refine complexion

I enjoy using Pyunkang Yul and have a number of products from their line which I have over time purchased thru Style Korean. The site offers great price deals from time to time. There is not one product that I did not like. Eventually I would like to have reviews on all the Pyunkang Yul items in my collection but for this post I will just be speaking to three (essence toner, moisture serum, moisture cream).

Essence Toner is my second favorite product in the Pyunkang Yul line. The texture has more viscosity than water but much thinner than a serum. It is lightweight and spreads easily on skin. It is a bit tacky and takes a while for skin to absorb. I pour directly into palms and pat on to skin until everything is fully absorbed. The finish leaves my skin smooth, calmed, and semi-dewy. The Essence Toner does not contain any water, rather has 91.3% arginine and astragalus root extract. This root extract provides antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and has nutrient boosting properties. Since using this toner, I have seen my skin becoming more hydrated and less dry patches. Products seem to absorb better using the Essence Toner.

Moisture Serum is my favorite product in the entire Pyunkang Yul line. It contains Coptis japonica root extract and olive oil to help rebalance skin’s oil and moisture levels. The texture is a milky soft lotion, lightweight, and slightly runny. I remember the first time I used this I expected the texture to be a typical watery/runny serum but only to find out that the texture was close to a lotion. The texture is so lightweight that I can apply anywhere from 1 to 2 layers to get the hydration I need. It also wears very good under makeup application. The dropper is a bit tricky to use, best way is to pull the dropper out of the bottle and right before you insert it back into the bottle, squeeze the dropper to suck in air, once inserted into the bottle, release the dropper and it will suck up product. This serum calms and soothes my skin. Sometimes I mix in a bit of the Moisture Ampoule for extra hydration.

Moisture Cream is the last thing I apply to my face after the Moisture Serum to seal everything up. The texture is a hybrid of a gel-cream, bouncy, lightweight, and spreads easily on skin. It reminds me of the Belif Moisture Bomb. A little bit of product goes a long ways and it goes on smoothly on top of the Moisture Serum. The finish does leave a little shine but not a greasy feeling. My skin felt sufficiently moisturized and hydrated for my normal to dry sensitive skin. Even if I used the Moisture Cream on its own, it does provide a decent amount of hydration.

Overall, I really like using Pyunkang Yul. This is a pretty simple brand that does not contain wow factor ingredients or Active ingredients like in other brands you hear today other than the noted traditional herbs. For that reason, Pyunkang Yul makes a good skincare routine that you can build a good base on. It took a while for my skin to get used to these products in the beginning, but once my skin got used to them, my skin started to feel clear and brighter. I noticed that I did not have to combine layers and layers of other products from other brands when I used Pyunkang Yul. With my sensitive skin, I never once had an irritation using these items. It’s definitely worth a try if you have not tried Pyunkang Yul. This brand is on my re-purchase list when I run out.

Have you tried Pyunkang Yul? Which is your favorite Pyunkang Yul product?
