Laneige Water Bank Essence has been one of my long time favorite kbeauty product. When the brand launched in the US, they changed the name from essence to serum. The Water Bank line is my absolute favorite. Whenever my skin is feeling dry or irritated, I always come back to Laneige because it is very gentle and calm on my skin. The water bank line is water based using hydro ionized mineral water which helps quickly penetrate deep into the skin and retains moisture.

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous. The essence comes in a clear gradient blue glass bottle. The glass has a bit of weight to it which makes it look classy. Love that it comes with a pump which dispenses just enough for a single use without waste. Plus, it is hygienic friendly since you are not double dipping fingers or scooping product out.
The texture is a medium thick gel serum. It is very soft and water based to the touch. Upon application, it spreads easily and becomes watery on the skin. Due to the watery texture, this essence absorbs into skin fairly quickly. I can feel the instant hydration and plumpness. Leaves my skin feeling dewy without being greasy or heavy. Plus, I can apply another layer should I need more hydration. Over longer use, I find my moisturizers & serums absorbing much faster as well.
This essence is great to prep the skin before layering on more moisturizers in my skincare routine in the evening. I prefer using essences or serums in my morning routine instead of moisturizing creams. I personally like using it as a moisturizing base before my makeup application. I have not experienced any makeup pilling from using this essence. I have normal to dry sensitive skin and have not experienced any irritations.
Perfect to use during warmer weather since this essence is very light weight and the watery texture has a cooling effect on the skin. It does have the typically Laneige scent that is similar across all of their products. It is pretty noticeable but does not bother me. The scent dissipates shortly after application. For those of you who have sensitivities just note this essence is fragranced.
I definitely recommend incorporating an essence or serum in your skincare routine if you haven’t already done so. Dependent on your skin type, Laneige carries a full skincare product line that caters to a wide range of skin concerns. This is a great essence at an affordable price for the amount of product you get.
