Kosas Tinted Face Oil is a mix between a face oil and foundation. It is Kosas’s first shaded complexion product. This super lightweight foundation is made with active botanical oils, delivering high pigment that is self-adjusting to your skin. These are meant to be applied effortlessly with your fingers like a serum or moisturizer and suitable for all skin types. Leaves skin breathable, hydrates and minimizes pores.

Available in 16 shades so you can mix and match if you are in between shades. My everyday shade is tone 3.5 (light to neutral). I wanted a no makeup look when I am running errands on the weekends and didn’t want a full face of makeup. Plus I didn’t want to waste my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation for doing weekend errands. I’ve heard positive reviews about Kosas and being a clean non-toxic brand gave me a good reason to purchase this.

The application is very different from other types of tinted moisturizers and foundations. You need to shake this up really well with each use. A few drops is all you need. I literally point the bottle at my face and squeeze out one drop per cheek, one on forehead, and one under the chin (total 4 drops to start, then add more if needed). I wear a good serum/spf underneath to hydrate skin and skip the primer. Let your skincare dry down before applying the oil foundation to avoid pilling.

The Sephora site quoted “The formula doesn’t contain silicone, so it works best on exfoliated skin. Layer over moisturizer or sunscreen to allow skincare to soak in before applying. Serums or skincare containing silicones may cause pilling.”

Go slow and take your time to blend out with fingers. Once everything is near blended, go back and use a patting/pressing motion to ensure this oil sinks into your skin. You can use a brush or beauty sponge with this, however I feel these eat up too much of the product instead of depositing it on my face. The pigment is good, nice sheer to medium coverage and evens out my skin tone. If you have noticeable scars/blemishes this foundation will not cover them.

I have normal to dry sensitive skin so I make sure my face is well exfoliated or else it will cling to dry patches. This dries down nicely to a dewy satin finish. It feels very skin like, almost as though I am not wearing anything. Stays put throughout the day and keeps my skin hydrated. If you are on the oily side, you made need to use a bit of setting powder to reduce the shine. This foundation is perfect when I want a no makeup day look or use during warm summer weather. I look forward to trying other products in their collection.

Kosas Tinted Face Oil is available at Sephora, Nordstrom, and other Kosas retailers.
