Self tanning just got better and easier. I discovered the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water last year and had become obsessed with it. I was so shocked at how easy it was to apply for an at home use product. It was my first time hearing a product made in a clear water formula.
This tanning water uses color correcting actives to help even out skin tone. It comes in 3 shades: peach (light), green (medium), and violet (dark). These are free of parabens, gmo, and gluten. Plus the ingredients are all 100% vegan and non-sensitizing.
I always begin with a good body exfoliation followed by moisturizing lotion on my feet, ankles, knees, and hands since these areas tan a bit darker. Best to do the tanning in the bathtub or shower and work in small sections of the body. You can spray directly onto skin and massage it in with hands (make sure to wash hands afterwards) or as I prefer using a tanning mitt. Since this sprays clear, I suggest using 3-4 sprays per section to start out with. For hard to reach angles, spray a few pumps onto the mitt and massage on to skin. Dries fairly quickly so you have to work the product in right away.
This does not have the typical faux tan smell when the tan is developing. It actually smells a bit tropical. After my entire body has been covered I just put on some loose clothing. There is absolutely no transfer of staining on clothes or bedding. I can spray this on during the day and go about my business. By end of day I will have a fully developed tan.
Tan develops within 2 hours from when the time of when it was applied. I have light skin so I used the Light version and it gives me the most natural beautiful tan. See my super pale arm in the above picture. I purposely sprayed a little extra on my arm so the tan can show up on camera for you to see. The closest I can get like as if I had been baking under the sun. I have never gotten results like this from using a fake tan made of water consistency. Since this applied clear I don’t have to worry about my tan getting washed away in the shower.
I moisture my body with lotion to keep the tan from fading afterwards. To maintain this tan I simply spray every few days. Tan will fade gradually on its own but you can exfoliate and re-apply a fresh coat. I love using the spray on my body as it is simple to use. I generally do not self tan my face but when I do there is the drop version of this self tan where you mix the drops with your favorite moisturizer.
I will be going on vacation in just a few days and will pre-tan my body so I don’t look too pale in the sun. I had stocked up on a few bottles of the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Water during the last few Sephora VIB sales $28 USD/6.76 oz. The Sephora site carries the spray as well as the a 3-piece set on QVC $42 USD (self tanning water, self tanning drops, mitt) or directly at Isle of Paradise.
What is your favorite self tanning product? All opinions are my own.
