Hourglass Veil Retouching Fluid does not feel like the typical concealer we are all used to using. This is more of a makeup refresher that you apply anywhere on your face where you need some brightening, a hint of coverage to conceal, and touch up faded makeup. You can use this on any part of your face since there is no shimmer in it which makes it the perfect multi-tasking concealer.
This formula contains skin-nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, plant water extract, and grapefruit extract. Free of parabens, fragrance, sulfates. Vegan. Cruelty-free. Available in 6 shades. I will be reviewing shade Honey (medium to medium deep) – I mixed this shade with my daily Hourglass Soft Glow Foundation when I got really tan when vacationing in Mexico. I recently picked up Natural (light to light medium) now that my tan has completely faded.
Full ingredient list: Water/Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Mica, Cyclohexasiloxane, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Kaolin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Talc, Aluminum Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethiconol, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Fraxinus Excelsior Bark Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Glycolic Acid, Hexylene Glycol, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Potassium Citrate, Propanediol, Salicylic Acid, Silanetriol, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbic Acid, Tin Oxide, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Xanthan Gum, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).
Veil Retouching Fluid is packaged in a 0.10 oz/ 3.2 mL frosted glass bottle with a doe foot applicator tip. The sheer thin consistency feels much lighter than any standard concealer without creasing or caking on top of your makeup and will not disturb makeup underneath. There is no scent or fragrance. Coverage is sheer at best. It does not cover significant blemishes but evens out skin tone, brightens, and leaves skin dewy (which is primarily what I use it for).
Application works best by gently patting the product into skin on your desired areas. I typically add a few dots to my entire face, then dot on my foundation and blend it all together with a makeup brush. I find this method makes my complexion look luminous and soft. I hate buying a bottle of dark foundation that I will only use a few times during the summer when I get tanned. I just mix some of this with my everyday light foundation to get the perfect tan shade to match my summer tan.
The packaging is small enough to keep in my cosmetic pouch for touch up at work. I dab a tiny bit to areas where my makeup usually rubs off like nose, corners around the mouth, and under eyes. What a game changer, it just melts into skin and blends in without looking dry or cakey. If you are looking for matte and full coverage this is not for you. If you’re a natural skin or light coverage foundation like myself this adds a hint of coverage and luminosity. My preferred choice when I have to use a touch up.
