One of my biggest pet peeves before going to bed is removing off all of my makeup. I get the most gratifying feeling when my face is fresh and can feel my skin is breathing. My skincare cleansing routine consists of a first cleanse which is primarily an oil based cleanser (either balm/liquid) and followed by a second cleanse which is gel, cream, or foam based. I have used a number of products from South Korean skincare brand Botanic Farm and love how natural their products feel on my skin. Their Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbet is no exception and a must have in my cleansing routine.

The Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbet comes in a plastic tub with an inner lid inside that has a spatula to scoop the product. This cleanser has a softer creamier texture than most solid cleansing balms which tend to be more firm and waxy. Due to the texture it is easy to scoop out of the jar. I typically scoop out a nickel size amount and apply with dry hands directly onto dry face. The cleanser melts upon contact with skin and turns into a soft light oil.
This cleanser feels really light weight as it melts and I can feel my makeup coming off as I massage for a few minutes. It has a very light scent which does not bother me. I should note, the added fragrance is probably the only ingredient that goes against green beauty. They could really just remove this and the product would still be fine. There are three types of naturally fermented ingredients in this cleanser: Rice, Rice Bran, and Soybean. These help to brighten, moisturize, and deliver antioxidants for our skin.
The packaging says to use a towel to wipe off the cleanser, revealing soft hydrated skin. I however, always wash off my cleansers. I add a little water and the cleanser emulsifies into a runny milky texture followed by a water rinse. Skin feels very clean and there is no oily film on my face. I could stop here if I wanted to but I like doing a second cleanse.
Overall, the Grain Ferment Cleansing Sherbet has become a staple in my nightly first cleanse routine. The solid balm makes it very travel friendly and mess free. This cleanser removes every trace of makeup and does not leave behind any residue or sticky film. My skin feels very nice, soft, and hydrated. I have sensitive skin and I did not experience any irritation. It is good to know this product has a short list of ingredients. The brand is conscious about going green and protecting the environment. Most of the ingredients used in their products are grown on their farms. Amazing!
