Everything Rihanna touches turns to gold. Her makeup collection has been growing non-stop during the past two years. I remember when her lip collection consisted of only one lipgloss. That Gloss Bomb has been a obsession of mine ever since. Seriously, the color is so universal and I couldn’t get enough of the super fat brush applicator. Fast forward to now, I’ve been very curious about the Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks and Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipsticks as I’ve heard many good reviews on them. I picked up two shades that I do not already own in my lipstick collection.

Let’s start with the packaging. Look at how slim these look while encased in a reflective angular holographic tube. Fenty Beauty is also engraved into the case giving it a bit of luxe feel. It definitely matches the rest of her collection. It is very light given the fact the inner component is really made of thin plastic. With the lipstick being quite slim I find it much easier to hold and I have more precision when lining my lips and getting around my cupids bow.

The Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick collection has 24 shades. Rihanna wanted to create a collection that would suite anyone’s mood at any given time. The shade I purchased is called Dragon Mami. A warm coral matte finish. It’s a beautiful poppy shade on my lips. From the tube, it applies very thinly on my lips which I almost can’t feel. The product is creamy and applies smoothly. It felt very comfortable and I was able to press my lips a few times to blend the product out. The pigmentation is amazing. This lipstick dries down to a soft matte finish without the stiffness. I honestly can’t wait to try more shades.

The Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipstick is a Limited Edition of 4 shades. This collection launched during the holidays. The shade I purchased is called $upanova. A twinkling pink orchid metallic shade. I like wearing this in the evening when the light hits my lips for that hint of sparkle. This applies very thinly on my lips and never stiff when I pressed my lips together to blend the product out. The texture is very creamy and buildable if I want more shimmers. Very pigmented with this one as well. I love the micro-shimmers on my lips without actually feeling gritty glitter.

Neither one of these are transfer proof. Even after eating and drinking, the pigmentation is still there. It may not be as bright as my first application but it sorta leaves behind a nice pretty stain. I am able to remove it all easily with a kleenex should I want to apply a clean fresh layer. My lips do not get dried out from using either one of these but do make sure you exfoliate your lips before using to ensure there are no dry patches.

When compared to size, it was surprising to know the fill weight is nearly half the size of a standard size lipstick that you would find at Urban Decay or Bite Beauty. If you are looking at value, this might not be your ideal choice. However, if you are looking for unique textures, shades, and packaging I’d say go for it. At this point, I am only going to add shades that I don’t already own in my lipstick collection.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks are available exclusively at Sephora in 24 shades for $18 USD each, as well as the Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipsticks which come in 2 shades for $19 USD each.
