In the last few months this sunscreen went thru (name and packaging) change, it’s now called Farmacy Green Defense. I’m still finishing up the original which is what I am reviewing today. According to the brand, it’s literally the same product and no change to the formula. Knowing this, I’ll proceed with my review.

Let me begin by saying that I have sensitive skin. I’ve had my fair share of rashes and skin turning red from using chemical sunscreens. Due to these irritations, I tend to look for physical sunscreens that contain Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide which deflect the sun’s UVA/UVA rays.

Green Screen contains Titanium Dioxide (2.40%) and Zinc Oxide (5.82%). It is formulated with antioxidants, marigold and black chokeberry extracts which guard against environmental pollution. The brand claims this will protect you from the blue light that is emitted from smartphones and computers. Not sure about the blue light claim but for sure I wear this when I go outside. They also use their patented Echinacea GreenEnvy which helps improve your complexion.

Super easy to use squeeze tube, travel friendly, and under the 3.4 oz TSA rule for air travel. Surprisingly, it does not have the typical sunscreen smell and not a scent that I can particularly point out. This is only offered in SPF 30, I definitely had to reapply when being in water or sweating it off. The texture as with most physical sunscreens is thick. Green Screen comes out thick but super creamy to the touch. It does not have that sunscreen scent which is great.

It glides on my face like a moisturizer. For my body, I mix one part sunscreen and one part body lotion so I can apply to body faster due to the thick texture. I didn’t really have the white cast look but skin did look a bit lighter, something that comes with physical sunscreen and can’t be avoided. I used this alot during my Costa Rica vacation and did not get sunburn or skin irritations. Absorbed into my skin nicely and non-greasy. Skin was breathable and never felt uncomfortable under my clothes or under my makeup.

I really enjoy using Green Screen. There are cheaper options on the market for physical sunscreens. However if you are looking for a product that uses clean ingredients, fragrance free, and antioxidant benefits this would be a good choice. Since this sunscreen recently went thru a (name & packaging) change, Green Screen seems to only be available on the brands site at this time $36USD/1.7oz.

What is your favorite sunscreen? All opinions are my own.
